Koodankulam project work suspended for two days due to local body elections
The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) is building two thousand Megawatts capacity power reactors in Koodankulam. The first project is expected to go on start in December. For the six days protest against Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu, more than 100 people are on fast demanding stopping or scrapping of the plant project.
Meanwhile, the plant project work was suspended for two days on Sunday in view of the local body elections in State of Tamil Nadu. The suspension was to enable resident of Idinthakarai and nearby villages to exercise their franchise in the two phase local body elections being held on Monday.
Earlier, officials said around 100 employees of the emergency services wing were stranded since Saturday as their relievers could not enter the complex due to the blockade by the protestors.
